Discovering Your Most Authentic Self
Lately, I've been reflecting on a journal prompt from The ARTwork of YOU 90-Day Self-Discovery Journal, and I think it’s a question we should all reflect on regularly:
When do you feel the most 'you'? What are you doing in those moments?
In my journey of self-awareness, I've realized that recognizing these moments can unlock so much potential in our lives. For me, the answer often lies in my studio. There's something magical about the creative process of painting that makes me feel completely in tune with myself. The world fades away, time loses meaning, and I am entirely present. These are the times when I feel most 'me.'
However, it doesn't always have to be about creating art. I also feel incredibly authentic when savoring a quiet morning coffee, engaging in deep conversations with loved ones, sharing laughter with friends and family, or cooking a meal with a glass of wine in hand.
These moments of true connection and presence remind me of who I genuinely am.
Understanding these moments of authenticity can guide us toward a more fulfilling life. They help us prioritize activities and relationships that nurture our true selves and bring joy. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to push our needs and desires to the side, thinking we'll get to them eventually. But those moments when we feel the most 'us' are not just nice-to-haves—they're essential.
Why? Because they ground us, rejuvenate us, and provide the energy and clarity we need to tackle everything else in our lives. Allowing time for ourselves to engage in activities that make us feel authentic is a vital form of self-care. It's not selfish—it's necessary. When we are aligned with our true selves, we can show up better for our loved ones, our work, our passions, and most importantly, ourselves.
We owe it to ourselves to carve out that time.
So, I encourage you to reflect on this:
When do you feel the most 'you'? What are you doing in those moments?
If you need guidance in discovering more of those 'you' moments, remember that I’m here to help. Whether it's through a coaching session, a podcast episode, or a friendly chat. Let's have a conversation to see how I can assist you in uncovering and embracing your authentic self.
I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences.
Cheers to showing up like the masterpiece you are!
